We celebrated in style, with more fabulous food producers than ever before. We think everyone deserves to be treated to great food so every year we bring together some of Hampstead and London’s finest artisan producers on the quaint Oriel Place to share our passion for real, handmade food. The Garden Party is a feast for all the senses, with mouth-watering aromas, visually sumptuous displays, products you want to handle and most importantly that taste lip-smackingly wonderful.
Britain’s high streets have radically changed over the years. In the 1950’s there were 18,000 Master Bakers whereas today there are only 3,500. The demise of the local bakery has gone along with the local cheesemonger, greengrocer and butcher in favour of that one-stop shop… the supermarket. The GAIL's Garden Party celebrates community spirit and real food ingredients.
Without further ado, many thanks to our fabulous food stalls: Neal’s Yard Dairy, Jing Tea, Chegworth Valley, Meat Naturally, Tea together, Slice of Ice, Paul A Young, Jeroboams, Union Coffee, Melrose & Morgan, Conscious Foods, Une Normande à Londres, Meals From Scratch, St Germain, Cool Chile Co, Mrs King’s Pork Pies and last but not least yours truly, GAIL’s Bakery!
This year we offered not only our beautiful breads, cakes, pastries, salads and sandwiches but we also branched out into hot food, offering Hampstead the mother of all sausage and bacon sandwiches (on our drool-icious potato and rosemary sourdough) and crisp tortilla baskets filled with couscous and tantalising Moroccan-style tagines. Mmm…
We were entertained by a wide variety of music, including Spanish guitar, acoustic singing, African drums, jazz and folk; and entertainment, including Mystical Fairies fairy magic, balloon twisting, children’s storytelling and facepainting.
